Finding an urban environment where they can detonate a pile of explosives wasn’t easy to accomplish. It had to be an abandoned area with buildings that are constructed and placed as in a modern city. After some intensive research they found a place that was just perfect. They found it in the former USSR. To get the most out of the recordings, they picked 15 interior and outdoor detonation spots and recorded the explosions with up to 42 microphone channels.
