Universal Audio’s FATSO™ Jr./Sr. Tape Sim. & Compressor emulates the Empirical Labs hardware, combining analog-style saturation and compression for producers and mixing engineers.

• Models the tonal characteristics of magnetic tape, Class A transformers, and tube circuits.
• Input, Warmth, and Tranny controls shape harmonic coloration from subtle warmth to heavy distortion.
• Compression and Spank controls provide flexible dynamics processing for individual tracks and mix buses.
• The included FATSO Sr. adds adjustable Tranny saturation, sidechain filtering, and threshold, attack, and release controls.
• Supports stereo or mono operation with independent left and right controls.
• Runs on the onboard DSP of compatible Apollo interfaces, UAD-2 Satellite accelerators, or UAD-2 PCIe cards, which are required.

Use it to soften transients, add character to drums and vocals, or bring cohesion to a complete mix.

• A compatible DAW supporting the installed plugin format.

• macOS Big Sur 11, Monterey 12, Ventura 13, Sonoma 14, Sequoia 15, or Tahoe 26.
• Plugin formats: VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX, 64-bit.
• Compatible with Intel and Apple Silicon Macs; Apple Silicon requires additional UAD software installation steps.
• A compatible DAW supporting the installed plugin format.
